Day One as a Certified Personal Trainer feat. @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
The reality of sustaining a career as a certified personal trainer is harsh and can be an eye-opening experience for some. The marketing for this industry is often presented as an all-smile and a great way to follow your passion. Still, it’s a profession that entails non-traditional work hours, nonstop hustling, and often getting out of your comfort zone. Not to deter anyone from becoming a personal trainer, as several benefits can be advantageous when building a sustainable client list and helping your clients reach their fitness goals. In this episode of the KIPS Podcast, guest Jeff Payne dives into his best advice for new personal trainers. Jeff owns and operates his gym in Plantsville, CT, and develops content for his UA-cam channel Sorta Healthy Trainer Education, which currently has over 63k subscribers.
Jeff’s UA-cam channel, Sorta Healthy Trainer Education, provides valuable insight for individuals looking to enter the fitness industry and business development tips for existing fitness professionals. Some of Jeff’s most popular content includes study guides and tips for passing the personal training exams for NASM and ACE. These videos have 100’s thousands of views and have helped views during the strenuous process of studying for a CPT exam. Throughout this podcasting session, host @TylerValenciaFitness, Ph.D.(c), and Jeff discuss the nuisances of personal training education and provide insight that can hopefully help new instructors save money during the process.

    Question. I don’t know anything about mics and camera / tech but I wanna upgrade my fitness videos for IG. That giant box (sorry I forgot the name of it) would I need to lug that to the gym with me every time I wanna use the microphone? Sorry just not sure how all of it works. There must be a way to just connect the mics to my blogging camera right? Not entirely sure what that box is for and how it’s used ?

    • @kipsonline
      @kipsonline Місяць тому

      For clarification, is the “giant box” you’re referring to the Rode transmitter in this video? The box shaped microphone in this video that clip to your t-shirt? f you’re using a mirrorless camera or DSLR, you can connect it directly the port. If you’re using this microphone with your iPhone, you will most likely need a TRS to TRRS adapter.

    Hi, thank you for doing this video, it is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Can you please explain what the options are for connecting music to the audio experience in a Zoom workout class? Currently I have a setup using the Blue Snowball Mic plugged into my Mac laptop, and I place a wireless JBL Speaker just behind the Mic, and stream my Spotify playlist into the speaker from my iPhone. I have the Zoom setting on to turn off the setting that filters out background noise so that the music can be heard, but that also means if there is any other outside noise, the mic picks that up too. Also, I just don't feel the sound quality of the music or my voice and the combination is as good as it could be. It seems you can either barely hear the music, or if I turn up the music, then I have to shout over it. Any suggestions on how to incorporate the music into a personal mic setup like the Rode you talked about in this video?

      Thank you for watching and glad you found the channel. I'm going to forward over two other tutorials that might be more of what you're thinking. This one is using an audio interface which can give you more control over your microphone and music lines. ua-cam.com/video/hx_EGZi_CsA/v-deo.html

    When you are recording through a computer are you using audacity or garage band?

    • @kipsonline
      @kipsonline 2 місяці тому

      For clarification, what would the purpose of garage band or audacity be in this set up? Are you trying to record the audio separate or keep them on the same .mp4 file?

      @daniellelachenauer7119 2 місяці тому

      @@kipsonline I have a client with a studio setup, headset mic and music being powered to her studios speakers. I need to be ableto "record" the audio in a way she can send me the audio file and I can sync it with her video footage and upload it together online. She has a mc so I figure garage band would be a decent way to grab the input. Although I'd need her audio file as an mp3 and not a garage band project file

I workout with her all the time, and I can vouch for her professionalism, and her fitness expertise! I always get a quality, challenging workout with Michelle! I enjoyed hearing about how to get started with a UA-cam channel. Getting started with anything is always the hardest thing, I think. Once you get going, the momentum can carry you forward. Hi Tyler! Thanks for the video, it's pretty thorough. Wondering the actual process that happens after you finish this video? How does your phone or camera recognize the audio the mixer is putting out? Do you need software on your phone or iPad to make this mixer compatible? Or if you plug it in and record a video on iMovie will it just take the audio automatically from the mixer?

    • @kipsonline
      @kipsonline 5 місяців тому

      Hi Haillie, after you connect all these items and hit record on your iPhone or iPad the content you've created will have both of these audio lines on the same file. It takes some tweaking to find the appropriate levels and editing it after the fact can always improve it further. Does that help?

    I have a question maybe you can answer. I am looking to buy a new macbook/ipad/iphone to stream live zoom fitness clases. My lighting is great so there isn't much issue there, I recently considered going to an ipad from my original idea of a second macbook because will have a goal to sream the zoom class to a 50inc TV on the wall so the virtual students are now in the space with our in person students. THis was a great idea and I was set on it until the apple rep told me to go with the iphone 15 VS the ipad PRO as the 15 camera was much better. brighter and faster. Ok I was set on this until I realized we only tested the virtual classes using my macbook, and I did not have to wear a mic for these, the audio was clear, and with the rifht setting my student at home could also hear the music in the background pretty clear. I realized we did not test with a phone, only the macbook and now I am woried the sound quality will be poor using the iphone 15 as the mic isnt designd for distance. I know nothing about the mics you have one here but you seem to know your stuff. I was given a grant so I have abnout a grand to spend, a little more with my own money. I am in canada so a grand isn't much HA! Can you help me? thanks in advance :)

    Hi buddy. I recently. bought some cheap mic to my GoPro 10 Black but the mic was picking up noise from rubbing against my T-shirt and my body. I'm doing body weight exercises and would like to know if I would get the same effect with RODE? For example, if I would go for a wee run, perhaps did some cartwheel along and try to talk as well at the same time, would I hear the mic moving on my clothes along with me talking or just me talking? I really would like to get the second option and not sure if I can with RODE. I'm doing Capoeira as well; would that be a good fit while doing some basic acrobatic movements?

      With the size of the RodeGo and the type of activity, a lav attachment might be a solid route. A lav attachment is lighter than the RodeGo transmitter and can hopefully help you perform your activities without any rubbing.
